8/11/2023 0 Comments Watercolor winter landscapeOnce the first set of shadows has dried we can go in and add the shadows beneath the two other pine trees on the right.īegin by adding clean water under each tree with the water directed toward the left side. Then tap in a light wash of the black-green paint mixture to the clean water. Each section of water should start thick under the tree, then become thinner as you move it toward the right. Using your round brush, apply clean water right under the two pine trees leaving a small amount of dry paper between the two puddles of water. Then after those two trees dry we will move on to the next set of trees. We are first going to start with the two trees on the left. To really add depth to our painting we are going to add some shadows beneath our pine trees. Let the sky area completely dry before moving on to the next step. When the yellow paint meets up with the purple paint clean your brush and tap in white paint on the empty white spaces to help blend the color into the clouds. Continue to leave random amounts of white space to create our clouds. With a clean brush, begin tapping in the yellow paint mixture starting at the bottom of the sky working your way up toward the purple section. This will create a nice transition to begin painting in our yellow paint mixture. Once your purple paint has reached the center of the sky, clean your brush off and switch to a light wash of Cadmium Orange paint and tap that in along the border of the purple paint. Next, switch to your size-six-round brush and begin tapping in the purple paint mixture to the top half of the sky leaving random white spaces to create the appearance of clouds. Take your flat paintbrush and apply a clean layer of water over the entire sky area. The second line will start at the right of the page starting a little higher than the first hill and will curve down till it goes off the page. The first line will start about a third of the way up from the bottom of the page and it will curve down till about halfway to the bottom of the page. I am going to draw two curved lines to make up hills, but after we put them in our sky I will erase the lines completely and add the trees. This line will be slightly different than the usual horizon lines I put in place. Step 1:īefore we can start painting we first need to draw in our horizon line. I highly recommend this product to you if you are looking for a beginner set of paints. This is the exact set I am using in the video above to create this painting.
